About Jo

In Jo's fresh and innovative approach to photography, she sees the world as patterns, lines and shapes. She enjoys capturing man-made and natural structures in such a way as to accentuate their beauty and power. Angle and light are used as the key to achieving impact. Her business background and working as part of a team has resulted in her ability to help turn 'a vision into reality'. Understanding a client's requirements to ensure they are met is very important in Jo's approach to her work, which results in satisfied customers and repeat business.

Jo trained in business and spent the first 12 years of her career as a business analyst working for blue chip companies in the UK and abroad. In 1996 she left the high flying world of IT and fulfilled a life long ambition to travel around the world with her tent, hiking boots and camera. This completely changed her outlook on life and resulted in her forming her own photographic business in 1998.

As a photographer, Jo is largely self taught. She studied traditional darkroom printing techniques in Newbury and Newcastle and has obtained Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society. Her creative work is her qualitifications and looking through the 'Portfolio of Images', 'Corporate Commissions', her work as 'Artist iin Residence', 'Photographic Art' and 'Family Commissions' sections you can see that Jo has a natural eye for what is right.

Jo also enjoys experimenting with and pushing the boundaries of photography. If its not turning handmade onion paper into photographic paper to print on, she is boiling photographs or printing onto a hugh piece of perspex with light behind to form a light box. Someone recently told her of burning negatives with a cigarette and then printing the negative for a completely off the wall effect.
